Ouf! L’hiver est de retour. Il a neigé environ 50 cm de neige fraiche ces 3 derniers jours qui a remis une belle couleur blanche au village de Leysin. Avec ça, l’équipe du snowpark démarre quelques construction de modules qu’ils ont voulu fabriquer depuis le début de l’hiver. Des news bientôt!
De notre côté, LeysinPArk Radio est aussi de retour avec une émission qui vous parle des champs open, du banked slalom, du photoshoot (9-20 Mars), et de cette belle neige. Bonne écoute!

Oh Yeah! Winter is back. It has snowed around 50 cm of fresh Pow in the past 3 days which has reset a sweet white color to the whole of Leysin. With this, the Snowpark crew are working hard to build some new features that they’ve wanted to build throughout the winter. More news soon!
On our side, LeysinPark radio is also back with a little show about the Champs Open, the banked slalom, the photoshoot (18-19 March) and this sweeeeet snow! Enjoy!

Voici quelques belles photos prisent pas Benoît Erard durant un photo-shoot il y a quelques jours sur le dernier kick (18 m flat) après le pipe. Les riders sont Romain, Yannick, Alexia, Benji, Jimmy & Dylan. Comme à son habitude, Benji déchire sur son scooter en tirant des front flip, superman, etc. De son côté, Alexia, 14 ans, n’a peur de rien et tire des 360° no problèmes. Pour finir, Yannick, Romain, Jimmy et Dylan continuent de hausser le niveau, jour après jour. Big up les gars et merci à DJ BEAST!
Here are a few sick pics taken by Benoît on the last kicker (18 meter flat) a few days ago in the park. The riders are; Romain, Yannick, Benji, Alexia, Dylan and Jimmy. As usual, they are pushing their limits every day. Alexia, 14 years old, is pulling huge 360′s, Benji is pulling front flips on his scooter, and the 5 other musketeers are popping higher and bigger. Mars au YETI Bar Leysin

Le 2 Mars prochain, le Yeti Bar et New Real Production présentent sur grand écran les édites de la saison jusqu’à présent. Plus de 6 édites de 5 minutes chacun vous sera présentés. Venez soutenir les talents freestyle de la station, parmis eux, Yannick, Jimmy, Romain, Lucky, Dylan, Alexia, Romain, Seb, etc… La soirée sera suivie de notre DJ bien aimé, DJ BEAST pour une soirée de folie aux sons hiphop, electro, et bien plus encore!

Pour la suite, le Yeti présentera chaque dimanche (les 5 prochains) des après-ski avec musique LIVE. Le but est d’inviter quelques artistes chaque semaine qui seront accompagnés par les musiciens habitués du YETI. Les soirée débuteront à 18:00 jusqu’à 22:00. Ce dimanche 27 Février, “Jacko” sera au micro avec ses propres productions! Venez nombreux chaque dimanche!

Le Mois de Mars au Leysarium

Le Leysarium roule à fond le mois de Mars 2011 avec 3 soirées/concerts au programme.
Tout commence le Vendredi 4 Mars avec 2 groupes; IntercontinentaL et Croque-Odille, deux groupes de rock.
Ça continue le Samedi 12 Mars avec les incontournables “Mondrians” (http://www.myspace.com/themondrians) et “Roy & the Devil’s Motorcycles”.
On fini le Samedi 19 Mars avec; Five Sticks (reprises de Led Zeplin) et Mexico.
Ouverture des portes 21h00, entrée CHF 10.-. Venez nombreux ce mois au Leysarium!
The Leysarium is going all out this coming March 2011. Three nights of live music are schedules there with the first night on March 4th with IntercontinentaL & Croque-Odille, 2 groups of ROCK!
It continues on March 12th with the famous Mondrians and Roy and the Devil’s Motorcycle.
It ends on March 19th with Five Sticks (Led Zeplin covers) & Mexico.
Doors open at 21h00 and entrance fee is CHF 10.- per night.

L’Edit Piaf

Voilà encore une petite vidéo qui nous arrive tout droit des laboratoires “New Real Prod” filmé il y a quelques semaines. Pour la petite histoire, elle a quelque chose de spécial: le crew l’a baptisé “l’édit piaf”, idée qu’ils avaient dans la tête depuis plus d’un an avec l’ami Benji.

Comme chaque année après les Champs, une belle équipe de riders se rejoint pour une session du tonnerre dans la ligne mythique du slopestyle. Cette année c’est avec Yannick, Lilou, Pierre, Lucky, Birch, Romain, et quelques autres que LeysinPark s’est réuni. 2 heures de folie a pris place sur des kicks incroyables et un superpipe énorme. Merci à Brock pour les photos ainsi qu’à tous ceux qui sont venu.
Infos pour ce weekend 19-20 Février 2011:
Le superpipe sera shapé ce soir 18-2-2011 par notre bien aimé shaper Gérald. Les 2 énormes tables, avant et après le pipe, seront ouvertes ainsi que le snowpark au complet. (Ligne bleue, Ligne de Jib/rail, Ligne rouge, Ligne noire). Venez nombreux rider le snowpark au complet. Bravo à toute l’équipe des shapers, Sébo, David, Romain et Gérald.
Like every year after the Champs Open, a sweet crew of riders meet up to ride the incredible slopestyle setup of the comp (Thanks to SwissMate). This year, Yannick, Lilou, Pierre, Lucky, Birch, Romain and more were here to hit it hard. 2 hours of crazy riding took place in the huge superpipe and the 2 sick kickers before and after the superpipe. Thanks to Brock for the pictures.

The superpipe will be shaped tonight, 18-2-2011, by our shaper Gérald. The two huge kickers will be open, as well as the snowpark as a whole. (Blue line, Red line, Black line and jib/rail line). Come and enjoy one of the best parks in the area. Congrats to the whole shaper crew, Sébo, David, Romain, and Gérald.
The 20th Champs Open is Over

Le 20ème anniversaire du Nescafé Champs Open s’est terminé Dimanche dernier. Pour clôturer l’event, l’organisation avait organisé un Slopestyle Masters et un Banked Slalom. Bravo aux 2 gagnants; Pascal Imhof dans le slopestyle et Nico Vaudroz dans le banked. Merci à tous ceux qui sont venu regarder le Champs cette année, les athlètes, sponsors, amis et médias. Merci à toute l’équipe de SwissMate pour ces 20 ans mémorables de snowboard dans la station de Leysin. Voici encore quelques photos mélangées de l’évènement et de Dimanche prisent par Brock Fiedler et Marion Landon.

The master Gian Simmen gets the crowd going
The student Lucien Koch takes home the title
It was another perfect day in Leysin for the finals of the NESCAFÉ CHAMPS.
The riders gave everything they had to impress the judges and the large crowd
on hand. Lucien Koch, the youngster from St. Gallois was the big surprise of
the day upsetting the favorites for the win. In the women’s event, Slovenia’s
Cilka Sadar imposed her will on the field.
The 20th anniversary of the NESCAFÉ CHAMPS couldn’t have happened in better
conditions. The sun was shining on the slopestyle course that was largely appreciated by
the riders, and a large crowd of enthusiastic snowboard fans made for a memorable edition
of the longest running snowboard competition in Europe.
Veteran competitors like Gian Simmen and former CHAMPS champions Risto Mattila,
Jaakko Ruha and Johann Baisamy weren’t able to stop the charge of the young Lucien
Koch, who bent the course in Leysin to his will. The young rider from Switzerland is a
member of the Swiss Junior Snowboard Team and admitted to being totally surprised by his
result. He didn’t think for a minute that he would win the contest during the qualifying rounds
last Wednesday. The 15-year old from Grabs (SG) executed the most polyvalent runs and
showed an amazing consistency on all of the obstacles in the course. He takes the title of the
20th NESCAFÉ CHAMPS in front of Finland’s Risto Mattila who road with the most amplitude
of the day, and the 18-year old Swede Niklas Mattson, who finished 3rd thanks to an
enormous Backside 1260° on the last jump.
Switzerland’s Gian Simmen, started off with a solid first run, but was unable to outclass the
riders on the podium. He finished 5th, and 16-year old Jan Scherrer from Ebnat-Kappel,
Switzerland finished 7th.
In the women’s competition, Slovenia’s Cilka Sadar used amplitude and technical tricks to
win the contest. She finished 7 points in front of her closest challenger, Switzerland’s Ursina
Haller who won the 2008 edition of the NESCAFÉ CHAMPS and jumped from 14th to 8th on
the TTR world rankings. Isabel Derungs from Zu?rich, who was the surprise standout during
the women’s qualifications and semi-finals finished in 3rd place.
The TTR contest finished on a high note! However, the action continues tomorrow with two
more contests dedicated to all the riders from the 20-year history of the CHAMPS: former
champions, past stars, and current pros. A Legends Banked Slalom and a Masters
Slopestyle Category will take place with training starting from 11a.m. Some big names from
the past will take part, with riders like Fabien Rohrer, Gian Simmen, Pascal Imhof, Gilles
Jacquet and more ready to drop through the starting gate.
As for the action in the resort, the Place to Be hosted an excellent evening of festivities this
Friday with Mr. Grandmaster Flash live on stage. Tonight it will be hopping again with
Solange Lafrange, The Escapists and Incatimini by Guess What.
